Patients at The Children’s Center Rehabilitation Hospital recently made a trip to TG Farms Pumpkin Patch in Newcastle for a day full of Fall-themed fun. The patients pet baby chickens and ducks, played with miniature ponies and goats, participated in a hayride and picked out their own pumpkin to decorate.
This is the eleventh year TG Farms has graciously invited the patients back to enjoy their pumpkin patch and interact with their staff. For some of the patients this trip is one they look forward to each year, for others this was a first-time trip with no shortage of fun and smiles.
Patient outings are important as they provide unique experiences and memories for children and enrich their lives at the same time. “It’s wonderful for our student’s to have the opportunity to take education outside the classroom. Our students get to experience the sights, the sounds and the smells of a farm,” said, Camilla Dadulo, special education teacher. “They get to practice their goals in a fun and engaging environment, experiences like that cannot be duplicated in the classroom.”
Providing these experiences for patients is just one of the many ways the staff at The Children’s Center Rehabilitation Hospital help patients maximize their potential. Click here to donate to the education and rehab department to help more patients attend outings.
