Professional MMA Fighter visits Hospital

Mixed martial artist Justin Wren stopped by The Children’s Center Rehabilitation Hospital this week to visit with patients in Complex Care and in the Pediatric Medical Rehabilitation Unit. As the only inpatient pediatric rehabilitation program in Oklahoma, the PMRU strives to help improve a patient’s opportunity for mobility, healing and independence for a smooth transition to home.

Wren said his favorite part about his visit to the Hospital was meeting the patients and staff. “Wow! I am absolutely blown away by the incredible staff and amazing facility at The Children’s Center Rehabilitation Hospital,” said Wren. “My wife and I loved meeting some of the awesome kids and seeing how they are cared for and how much they are loved.”

Patients in the PMRU enjoyed meeting the professional fighter. Wren and his wife Emily got to meet 19-year-old Elijah McNabb. Wren said meeting Elijah and the other patients at the Hospital was a very rewarding experience. “Being able to visit was one of the biggest blessings to see God’s love and compassion in action,” said Wren.

Wren is an American Christian missionary and a professional mixed martial artist, currently competing in the Heavyweight division of Bellator MMA. A professional competitor since 2006, Wren has also formerly competed for the UFC, and was a cast member of Spike TV’s The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights.
