Ogbo Okoronkwo Named as Honorary Board Member

The Children’s Center Rehabilitation Hospital, a nonprofit pediatric hospital, announced today Ogbo Okoronkwo, defensive football player for the Los Angeles Rams, will serve as a member of the Hospital’s honorary board. Okoronkwo will be part of a public relations and marketing campaign for the hospital, including public service announcements, speaking engagements, and social media outreach.

Okoronkwo connected with The Children’s Center Rehabilitation Hospital in 2016 when he was a guest at the Hospital’s annual prom. Okoronkwo returned the following year where he met Danielle Robinson, a patient in the Hospital’s short-term rehab unit. The two formed a friendship with Okoronkwo inviting Robinson to a University of Oklahoma football game once she discharged from the hospital. The two have since kept in touch.

“We knew Ogbo was special when he visited the Hospital for the first time. He immediately gravitated to the patients,” explained Melissa Richey, director of communications and marketing at The Children’s Center Rehabilitation Hospital. “Since then, Ogbo has supported Hospital events and created long lasting relationships with families.”

Other honorary board members include: Kelli O’Hara, Tony Award winning Broadway actress; Lincoln Riley, Head Football Coach for the University of Oklahoma, along with his wife, Caitlin; J.T. Realmuto, 2018 All-Star catcher for the Miami Marlins; Michael Fulmer, pitcher for the Detroit Tigers and the 2016 American League Rookie of the Year, along with his wife, Kelsey.

The honorary board members serve as ambassadors for The Children’s Center Rehabilitation Hospital, as well as support the Hospital’s fundraising efforts through personal and community influence.
