Every year a week in May is dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the important role nurses play in our lives. The Children’s Center Rehabilitation Hospital would like to highlight their nursing staff’s dedication to patient care.
The Hospital provides 24-hour complex medical care and rehabilitative services to over 120 patients. To meet patient needs the Hospital employs a nursing staff of over 300. These nurses provide care for patients and support the rehabilitative services patients need to meet their maximum potential. The staff ranges from nurse aides, advanced unlicensed assistants, practical nurse technicians, nurse technicians, licensed practical nurses, registered nurses, and advanced practice registered nurses.
“Our nurses are appreciated each and every day. Their passion to provide patient care is evident in every unit and room,” said Kyle Leemaster, director of nursing, The Children’s Center Rehabilitation Hospital. “The love and care given by our nurses is unmatched. We couldn’t provide our high-level of care without them.”
The Hospital also has a relationship with over 70 schools across the country that send nursing students in all fields of care to complete their clinical rotations. Close to 800 nursing students rotate through the Hospital each year completing their pediatric clinicals.
“Our hospital provides a new perspective of the nursing field outside of the acute care hospital,” said Callie Rinehart, nurse educator, The Children’s Center Rehabilitation Hospital. “It is my hope students see the compassion our nurses provide to patients with complex medical needs and will potentially consider it as a career opportunity.”
National Nurses Appreciation Week runs May 6th though 12th. The theme for 2018 is, “Nurses: Inspire, Innovate, Influence.”
“This years theme resonates with our nursing staff as they continually inspire others around them, provide innovative care, and influence the next generation of nurses,” said Kyle.
