The Children’s Center Rehabilitation Hospital has hired two new hospitalists, to enhance the already high-level of commitment of care for their patients. Hospitalists are medically trained and certified physicians who specialize in the care of patients in extended hospital care. Adding two hospitalists will increase the continuity of care and attention for patients and their recovery.
“We are providing the opportunity for these physicians to grow in the knowledge and familiarity of the patients and their families,” said Michael Johnson, M.D., vice president of Medical Services. “Additionally, their presence will be an important factor as we look at future program development and plans for continued growth.”
Sarah Henson, M.D. completed her pediatric residency, at The Children’s Hospital at OU Medical Center University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, in Oklahoma City. She received her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine, Little Rock. Henson’s professional affiliations include, American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the American Medical Association.
She first experienced The Children’s Center Rehabilitation Hospital as a resident and was impressed by the dedication of the staff.
“I knew coming out of training I wanted to be in an environment where I could make a difference, challenge me, and surround me with others who share my commitment to the care of children,” said Henson. “I believe The Children’s Center Rehabilitation Hospital is that place for me.”
Kerri Derrevere, M.D. graduated in 2012 from her pediatric residency at Palmetto Health Richland/University of South Carolina School of Medicine. She received her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. Derrevere’s professional affiliations include the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Academy for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine, and the Pediatric Complex Care Association. Derrevere quickly realized pediatric complex care was her calling as she had first hand experience having a child with special needs.
“I have experience with the day-to-day needs as well as the medical expertise to give the wonderful children the care they deserve,” said Derrevere. “The patients here are amazing, resilient and inspiring. I love to celebrate every success no matter the size and also hold hands and comfort during those challenging times.”
